3 GVN 53 Owner’s ManualchanGinG the SettinGSVoice Language—change the language for all voiceprompts and messages. Select the voice you want to useand select oK.Two different types of voice languages are available:text-to-speech and prerecorded.Languages noted with a person’s name and (TTS) aretext-to-speech (TTS) voices: for example, AmericanEnglish-Jill (TTS) is a text-to-speech voice. The text-to-speech voices “read” and “speak” the same wordsthat are displayed on the screen. The voices have anextensive vocabulary, and they pronounce the streetnames as you approach turns.Languages without a person’s name are prerecordedvoices, which have a limited vocabulary and do notspeak names of locations or streets.notE: If you change the Voice Language, youmust restart to complete this change.text Language—select a language for the on-screentext. Changing the text language does not change thelanguage of map data or user-entered data.Speech Rate—select the rate at which prompts arespoken.Customizing the Keyboard SettingsPress Menu three times. Then select General > Keyboard.Input type—select English only keyboard, or selectWestern European to use diacritical characters.Entry type—select ABCDEF keyboard, or selectQWERtY.
