96 GPSMAP 60CSx Owner’s ManualAPPENDIX >Connecting Your GPSMAP 60CSx to aComputerYou can connect your GPSMAP 60CSx to yourcomputer using either a serial port or USB connectorcable.NOTE: Fully install the supplied MapSourceprogram, Trip & Waypoint Manager, on yourcomputer before connecting the USB cable to thecomputer.To connect your GPSMAP 60CSx to yourcomputer:1. Lift the USB protective cover from the back ofthe GPSMAP 60CSx and insert the smallerconnector on the USB cable into the matchingport.2. Connect the remaining cable end to yourcomputer's USB port.To connect to your computer using a SerialPort connector:1. Lift the Serial Port protective cover from theback of the GPSMAP 60CSx and insert theround indexed connector on the cable into thematching port.2. Connect the remaining cable end to your PCSerial port or other appropriate device.3. Set your GPSMAP 60CSx interface settingto the appropriate interface format. Refer toInterface Setup on page 58.Information About USB DriversThe USB drivers should have been automaticallyinstalled when you installed the MapSource programthat came with your GPSMAP 60CSx. When youinitially connect the GPSMAP 60CSx to a USBport, your computer might prompt you to locate thedestination of the drivers for the device. You onlyneed to install the drivers once. After the drivers areinstalled, your computer will always detect yourGPSMAP 60CSx when it is connected. USB driversmight be updated periodically. You can find updates atwww.garmin.com.
