28 Fishfinder 340C Owner’s ManualU SING THE FISHFINDER 340C > U SING THE MAIN MENUSonar TabUse the Sonar tab to set up initial settings and calibrations.The following settings are available:• Auto Gain—controls the aggressiveness of the Auto Gainwhen the Gain option is set to Auto (see page 35). Thehigher the setting, the greater the number of targets appearon the screen. The lower the setting, the less clutter on thescreen. The settings are Low, Medium (default), and High.• Auto Color Gain—controls what colors are applied to theobjects on the screen when the Color Gain option is setto Auto (see page 35). Color DCG is based on depth andmakes it easier to spot subtle changes in bottom conditionsor fish sizes. DynaColor™ (default) represents the latestin sonar data presentation and is recommended for allapplications. The presentation is based on bottom strength.It makes the bottom and the fish easier to see and requiresfewer adjustments.• Keel Offset—allows you to offset the surface reading forthe depth of a keel. This makes it possible to measure depthfrom the bottom of your keel instead of from a transducer’slocation near the water line. Enter a positive number tooffset for a keel. You can also enter a negative number tocompensate for a large vessel that may draw several feet ofwater, requiring the transducer to be submerged if you wantto measure from the water line. The Keel Offset is reflectedin the depth reading.• Automatic Scroll Speed Limit—automatically adjuststhe scroll rate (see page 36) with the speed of your vesselwhen the Scroll option is set to Auto (if equipped with aspeed sensor or receiving GPS NMEA input). Entering yourmaximum cruising speed produces a 100% scroll rate whenyou reach that speed. One half of that speed produces a 50%scroll rate, and so on. The default is 30.0 kt.• Transducer Type—allows you to specify what type oftransducer you are using.
