14Care and CleaningProfessional RangetopsDual-flamestackedburnersThe burner consists of three parts: the burnerbase, burner head and burner cap. The burnerhead and burner cap can be lifted off, makingthem easy to clean.CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THEBURNER WITHOUT ALL BURNER PARTS IN PLACE.Surface burners should be cleaned routinely,especially after bad spillovers, which could clogthe slots and holes in the burner heads.The electrode is located at the rear of eachburner. Do not attempt to disassemble or cleanaround any burner while another burner is on. Anelectric shock may result.To remove the burner parts:1. Turn all controls OFF before removing anyburner parts.2. When cool, you may lift off the burner grates,burner caps and burner heads for easiercleaning. Do not remove the burner bases.CleaningLift off burner parts only when cool. Wash in hot,soapy water. You may use a plastic scouring padto remove burned-on food particles.To remove burned-on food, soak the burnerheads in a solution of mild liquid detergent andhot water for 20–30 minutes. For more stubbornstains, use a plastic scouring pad or toothbrush.If the spill goes inside the burner head assembly,wash it under running water and shake toremove excess water.After CleaningBefore replacing the burner parts, shake outexcess water and then dry them thoroughly.To replace the burner parts:Make sure that the burner parts are replaced inthe correct location.1. Replace the burner head on top of the burnerbase, making sure that the hole in the burnerhead is properly aligned with the electrode inthe burner base. A small gap between thebase and head is normal.2. Place the burner cap on top of the burnerhead.
