The tooltethering system is an assembly of components and subsystems to arrest a tool from an accidental drop. The system typically consists of tool attachment, a tooltether, and a tool anchor. See product labels for maximum load capacity and maximum allowable tether length.3.0 System Requirements - The FallTech For Tools™ Cold Shrink Tool Attachments is designed for use by a single tool. DO NOT exceed the capacity of the lowestrated component in the system.3.1 Compatibility of Components: Equipment is designed for use with approved components and subsystems only. Substitutions or replacements madewith non-approved components or subsystems may jeopardize compatibility of equipment and may affect the safety and reliability of the complete system.3.2 Making Connections: Only use locking connectors with this equipment. Only use connectors that are suitable to each application. Ensure all connectionsare compatible in size, shape, and strength. Do not use equipment that is not compatible. Visually ensure all connectors are fully closed and locked.4.0 Installation4.1 Pre-Use Inspection: Inspect the tool attachments thoroughly before attaching it to the tool for missing or damaged parts. Inspect the webbing, loopedends, and stitches for cuts, fraying, and signs of damage to the materials from excessive wear or abrasion. Inspect the split rings, D-rings, carabiners, andspeed clips for excessive wear, cracks, or deformities. If any of these conditions exist, remove from service.4.2 Installation Procedure: Ensure the cold shrink, tool and tool attachment is clean and free of oil, grease, or debris, which could prevent adequateattachment onto the tool. The Cold Shink and Tool Attachment should be placed away from the functional parts of the tool and the connection point shouldface away from the center of gravity. See the figures below for the installation steps by type of attachment.4.2.1 Choke-On Cinch Loop Installation Procedure: Position the Choke-on Cinch Loop Tool Attachment high up on the shaft of the tool, pull theanchorage end through the elastic loop and pull the tool attachment to choke down onto the tool, see Figure 1. Snug the barrell lock onto the elasticloop to maintain a tight fit of the elastic cord.4.2.2 Cold Shrink Sizing Selection: Select the appropriate size cold shrink to fit over the shaft of the tool and the tool attachment. The cold shrinkshould be the smallest size that will fit over the tool and tool attachment. If the size of the cold shrink is too large, the cold shrink will not contactenough to maintain a tight fit on the tool attachment and allow it to slip off during an accidental drop.4.3.3 Cold Shrink Installation: Slide the cold shrink over the shaft of the tool and the tool attachment with the pull direction arrow on the cold shrinkpointing away from the cinched nylon cord, see Figure 2. Position the cold shrink below the choked on nylon cord and barrell lock, see Figure 3. Pullthe free end of the cold shrink inner core. This will allow the cold shrink to contract over the tool shaft and tool attachment. Attach a tool lanyard andanchor to complete the system, see Figure 4.MTOL08 Rev A 121820FallTech 1306 S.
