Pulsense ™ PS-500Quick StartRead these instructions before using your product.Charge your productBefore using your product for the first time, make sure thebattery is fully charged. Charging takes approximately 2.5 to3.5 hours. A full charge lasts about 36 hours.Caution: Do not attach the charging cradle when the PS-500 iswet. If the PS-500 is wet, wipe it with a damp cloth, remove themoisture with a towel, then let it air dry before attaching thecharging cradle.1. Open the charging cradle and insert the PS-500 as shown.2. Insert the USB plug into a power source. You can use:■ Computer (using a free USB port)■ Optional USB AC Adapter (part number SFAC04)The orange LED lights upwhen your PS-500 isconnected correctly.Charging is complete whenthe blue LED is lit.Install Epson PULSENSEViewDownload Epson PULSENSE View from your mobiledevice’s app store.The following mobile devices are supported:■ iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, or iPhone 5s with iOS7.1 or later■ Mobile device running Android TM 4.3 or later withBluetooth ® SmartLaunch the app and pair yourPS-500You must pair your PS-500 through the Epson PULSENSEView app. This sets the time and date. The PS-500 will notstore any data until you’ve paired it with the app.Follow these steps:1. Start the Epson PULSENSE View app.2. Make sure that the PS-500 is within 3 feet (1 meter) of themobile device.3. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your PS-500with your mobile device and perform the initialconfiguration.The PS-500 can store up to 480 hours of data before needingto be synced.LED statusThe LEDs on the PS-500 light up or flash to indicate differentstates. When exercising, the LEDs indicate which zone you’recurrently in. The PS-500 vibrates when entering or leaving azone.Wearing and Caring InstructionsKeep these tips in mind when wearing your PS-500:■ When wearing the PS-500, make sure it does not touchthe ulna bone.■ For greater accuracy, wear the PS-500 on yournon-dominant wrist.■ Tap the watch face to turn on the backlight.■ Before boarding an aircraft, power off your PS-500 byselecting Power off from the System settings menu.Your Pulsense product is made from materials commonly usedin watches and other consumer products. Since you may wearyour product over extended periods, including when you areexercising and sweating, it is important that you take care ofyour skin and your product according to these instructions.Prolonged wearing of your product without proper care couldlead to skin irritation or rash.Please follow the precautions below to ensure full enjoymentand benefit of your Pulsense product:1. Keep Pulsense and skin clean2. Keep Pulsense and skin dry3. Give skin a rest and some airSee the online User’s Guide for more instructions, includingadditional instructions on how to wear the band.Caution: Persons with high skin sensitivity, eczema, allergies,or asthma may be more likely to experience skin irritation or anallergic reaction from the Pulsense product or similar products.Even persons without such conditions may start to experienceredness or skin irritation on wrists from prolonged use or if theproduct is not cleaned regularly as indicated above. If youexperience such symptoms:■ Stop wearing and remove your Pulsense productimmediately. Do not put it back on.■ If symptoms persist for more than 2-3 days after removingthe Pulsense product, consult a dermatologist.■ Make sure to follow the wear and care instructions above.Calibrating your heart rateTo personalize your heart rate zones and calibrate the sleepmonitoring feature, wear your PS-500 for 2 to 7 days whileyou sleep. The accuracy of your heart rate zone and sleep datawill improve after the PS-500 has calibrated your resting heartrate.Using PULSENSE ViewYou can view live and collected data, such as heart rate, steps,calories, and sleep, from your PS-500 using the PULSENSEView mobile app.If you do not have a mobile device, you can use yourWindows computer to upload data to the PULSENSE Viewweb application. Download the PS Uploader software(Windows 8.x, Windows 7, or Windows Vistaepson.com/support/ps500 (U.S.) or epson.ca/s(Canada).Troubleshooting■ The PS-500 vibrates when entering or leaviturn off vibration, go to > Device SettiVibration in the PULSENSE View app. Sehelp for more information about vibration.■ If you are missing data, note that data collepairing with the app cannot be viewed.■ If you are having trouble pairing, make surepairing from the PULSENSE View app, nosystem’s Bluetooth settings.■ If heart rate monitoring is turned off, pressto turn it back on.■ The PS-500 time is set by the PULSENSEthe PS Uploader software.
