5-3TroubleshootingYou see a memory or VM error message (Macintosh)You see a communications error message when you try to openEPSON Stylus RIPEPSON Stylus RIP does not run (Windows)Possible cause SolutionVirtual memory is notturned on.Select Control Panels from the Apple menu, thenselect Memory Control Panel. Click the On buttonin the Virtual Memory panel.Not enough memoryis allocated to theStylus RIP software.Quit Stylus RIP and select the Stylus RIP icon onyour desktop. Select Get Info from the File menu.Then increase the amount of available memory inthe Preferred Size box to at least 20000K(minimum 16000K), making sure to leave somememory available for your system software andother applications.Your system needsmore memory.If neither of the solutions above prevent memoryerror messages, you need to install additionalmemory on your Macintosh.Possible cause SolutionThe printer is notturned on or notconnected securely.Make sure the printer connection is secure at bothends of the cable. Also make sure the cable is notdefective and it meets the specifications for yourprinter. See your printer documentation for moreinformation.Turn on the printer and try printing again.Your printer isconnected to LPT2 orLPT3 (Windows).Change the printer connection to LPT1. You cannotselect any other output port within the EPSONStylus RIP program.Possible cause SolutionYou’re using NortonNavigator or anotherspecial desktop.Click the Windows icon, then click the Stylus RIPicon to run Stylus RIP directly from Windows.
