7Determining Cookware Size• Do not use cookware that is more than 1/2 inch largerin diameter than the cooking zone being used.• For optimal performance, use pots or pans that arebetween 1/2 inch smaller and 1/2 inch larger than thecooking zone being used.Cookware PlacementIMPORTANT: Center the cookware in the cooking zone.Cookware that is off center may cause the “no pandetected” light to come on and shut off power to thecooking zone. Before Using the CooktopBefore using the cooktop for the first time:• Be sure all packing materials, labels or tape areremoved from the cooktop surface.• Wipe the cooktop with a clean, damp sponge and dry.• Apply Dacor Cooktop Cleaning Crème, according tothe Care and Cleaning section.• During the first uses of the cooktop, you may smell aslight burning odor or see light smoke. These condi-tions are normal for new glass ceramic cooktops.• Be certain that the cookware and glass surfaces areclean and dry before you place a pot or pan on thecooktop and turn on an element.Selecting the Proper CookwareIMPORTANT:• It is important to select cookware carefully. Improp-erly selected utensils will not cook efficiently orevenly. All utensils used on an induction cooktopMUST be magnetic (must attract and hold a magnet).Select cooking utensils that are specifically identi-fied for use with induction cooktop. Utensils with poormagnetic conduction will not heat properly, may causevibration or cause the no pan detected light to comeon.• Use proper pan size. This appliance is equipped withsurface units of different sizes. The cookware musthave heavier flat bottoms and the diameter should belarge enough to cover the surface unit heating ele-ment. Using cookware that is a lot smaller than thecooking zone wastes energy and may cause the “nopan detected” light to come on and shut off power tothe cooking zone.• Choose cookware that matches the amount of foodbeing prepared and closely matches the diameterof one of the cooking zones. Use tight fitting lids toretain heat, odors and steam.Do not use:• Cooking utensils that have bottoms that are rounded, convex or concave.• Utensils that are smaller in diameter than the cookingzone being used.• Utensils made of materials that are poor heat conduc-tors.• Griddle plates that cover more than one cooking zone.• Dirty pans or pans with greasy build-up.Improper utensils will not heat properly, wobble and maycause vibration.Operating the CooktopOptimal Pan SizeCooking zoneCorrect IncorrectCooking zone
