9HIGHpositionHIGHpositionLOWpositionLOWpositionInstallation InstructionsVerifying Proper OperationWARNING• Make sure that power to the electrical outlet is turnedoff at the circuit breaker panel or fuse box and thatthe gas is turned off at the gas supply valve beforeproceeding.• The cooktop must be properly grounded at all timeswhen electrical power is applied.Prior to operating the cooktop, read the accompanying useand care manual carefully.1. Make sure all the cooktop burner controls are in theOFF position.2. Connect the power cord to the electrical outlet.3. Turn on power to the electrical outlet at the circuitbreaker panel or fuse box.4. Push down and turn the left front burner control knobslowly counterclockwise to the HIGH posi-tion. The corresponding burner indicator lightshould come on. Verify that the burner ignitersparks, then return the knob to the OFFposition. Repeat for all of the remainingcontrol knobs.5. Turn on the gas supply valve.6. Perform the following ignition test for all of the burners,one at a time:• Push down and turn the control knob slowly coun-terclockwise to the HIGH position. All of the burnerigniters will spark. It may take up to 4 seconds forthe burner to ignite, at which time the igniters willstop sparking. If ignition does not occur within 4seconds, turn the knob to the off position. Wait forat least 5 minutes to allow any gas to dissipate,then repeat the test.• Once the burner lights, rotate the control knobcounterclockwise from HIGH to LOW to adjust theflame height progressively. On the SimmerSearburner, only the center of the burner should be litwhen the knob is in the low position.• When the unit is installed properly, the flame willbe steady. It willalso have a sharp,blue inner conethat will vary inlength proportionalto the burner size.The flame will bereduced by theSmart Flame™feature under thegrate fingers toincrease grate life.NOTE: If the cooktop does not operate properly, followthese troubleshooting steps:• Verify that power and gas are supplied to the cooktop.• Check to make sure that the power plug is connectedto the electrical outlet and that power is turned on atthe circuit breaker panel or fuse box.• Check to make sure that the burner parts are properlyseated.• If the burner continues to spark after ignition withoutstopping, have a licensed electrician check the electri-cal outlet for proper grounding or reversed polarity.• Repeat the above burner ignition test.• If the appliance still does not work, contact DacorDistinctive Service at (877) 337-3226.
