It boasts strong iSCSI write performance,greater than many competing products. It alsoprovides versatile RAID support. It features Serial ATA(SATA) disk drive bays (DNS-1250-04: four bays,DNS-1250-06: six bays) and supports volumes inRAID level 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, JBOD and Standard Modeconfigurations (the DNS-1250-06 also supports RAIDlevels 30 & 50). Additionally, S.M.A.R.T. disk diagnosticshelp to ensure data integrity through monitoring of thehard drives. Any hard drive problems detected can bedealt with by Predictive Data Migration (PDM) whichmoves data from an affected drive to a healthy drive toensure no loss of data.NAS File ServerSmall and Medium Businesses will appreciatethe DNS-1250 series NAS file server which takesadvantage of the accelerated performance of the IntelAtom Dual-Core processor. The DNS-1250 series implementsCHAP authentication, system firewall and IP blockingto guarantee secure access to the storage system.A Variety of Backup OptionsThe DNS-1250 series offers a comprehensive rangeof backup options which allow administrators andusers to control how, when and where their data isstored. Use the USB ports to back up folders fromNAS to a flash drive. Users can also take a volumesnapshot, back up to Cloud storage, or remotelyback up to a server by using an rsync backup utility.Many third-party backup solutions like AcronisBackup & Recovery are also supported.iSCSI for IP NetworksiSCSI offers fast access performance thanks toblock-level data transfer. iSCSI targets appear as alocal drive on a client PC or host server. Operationssuch as configuration, provisioning, and backupcan be handled by the administrator in the sameway they would be for direct-attached storage(DAS).
