1EnglishDefinitions: Safety Alert Symbols and WordsThis instruction manual uses the following safety alert symbolsand words to alert you to hazardous situations and your risk ofpersonal injury or property damage.DANGER: Indicates an imminently hazardous situationwhich, if not avoided, will result in death or seriousinjury.WARNING: Indicates a potentially hazardous situationwhich, if not avoided, could result in death or seriousinjury.CAUTION: Indicates a potentially hazardous situationwhich, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderateinjury.(Used without word) Indicates a safety related message.NOTICE: Indicates a practice not related to personalinjury which, if not avoided, may result in propertydamage.SAVE ALL WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONSFOR FUTURE REFERENCESAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS: This manual contains importantsafety and operating instructions for battery chargers.Important Safety Instructions for AllBattery ChargersWARNING: Read all safety warnings, instructions, and cautionary markings for the battery pack, charger and product. Failure to follow the warningsand instructions may result in electric shock, fireand/or serious injury.• DO NOT attempt to charge the battery pack with anychargers other than the ones in this manual. The chargerand battery pack are specifically designed to work together.• These chargers are not intended for any uses other thancharging CRAFTSMAN rechargeable batteries. Any otheruses may result in risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.• Do not expose the charger to rain or snow.• Pull by the plug rather than the cord whendisconnecting the charger. This will reduce the risk ofdamage to the electric plug and cord.• Make sure that the cord is located so that it will notbe stepped on, tripped over or otherwise subjected todamage or stress.• Do not use an extension cord unless it is absolutelynecessary. Use of improper extension cord could result in riskof fire, electric shock or electrocution.• When operating a charger outdoors, always providea dry location and use an extension cord suitable foroutdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reducesthe risk of electric shock.• An extension cord must have adequate wire size (AWGor American Wire Gauge) for safety. The smaller thegauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of thecable, that is, 16 gauge has more capacity than 18 gauge. Anundersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting inloss of power and overheating. When using more than oneextension to make up the total length, be sure each individualextension contains at least the minimum wire size. Thefollowing table shows the correct size to use depending oncord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use thenext heavier gauge. The lower the gauge number, the heavierthe cord.Minimum gauge for Cord setsVolts Total length of Cord in Feet(meters)120 V 25 (7.6) 50 (15.2) 100 (30.5) 150 (45.7)240 V 50 (15.2) 100 (30.5) 200 (61.0) 300 (91.4)Ampere RatingAmerican Wire gaugeMoreThannotMoreThan0 6 18 16 16 146 10 18 16 14 1210 12 16 16 14 1212 16 14 12 Not Recommended• Do not place any object on top of the charger or placethe charger on a soft surface that might block theventilation slots and result in excessive internal heat.Place the charger in a position away from any heat source. The charger is ventilated through slots in the top and thebottom of the housing.• Do not operate the charger with a damaged cord orplug.• Do not operate the charger if it has received a sharpblow, been dropped or otherwise damaged in any way.Take it to an authorized service center.• Do not disassemble the charger; take it to anauthorized service center when service or repair isrequired. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of electricshock, electrocution or fire.• Disconnect the charger from the outlet beforeattempting any cleaning. This will reduce the risk ofelectric shock. Removing the battery pack will not reducethis risk.• NEVER attempt to connect 2 chargers together.• The charger is designed to operate on standard 120Vhousehold electrical power. Do not attempt to use it onany other voltage.WARNING: Shock hazard. Do not allow any liquid to getinside the charger. Electric shock may result.WARNING: Burn hazard. Do not submerge the batterypack in any liquid or allow any liquid to enter the batterypack. Never attempt to open the battery pack for anyreason. If the plastic housing of the battery pack breaks orcracks, return to a service center for recycling.CAUTION: Burn hazard. To reduce the risk of injury, charge only CRAFTSMAN rechargeable battery packs.Other types of batteries may overheat and burst resultingin personal injury and property damage.NOTICE: Under certain conditions, with the chargerplugged into the power supply, the charger can beshorted by foreign material. Foreign materials of aconductive nature, such as, but not limited to, grindingdust, metal chips, steel wool, aluminum foil or anybuildup of metallic particles should be kept away fromthe charger cavities. Always unplug the charger from thepower supply when there is no battery pack in the cavity.Unplug the charger before attempting to clean.Charging a BatterynOTE: To ensure maximum performance and life of lithium-ionbattery packs, charge the battery pack fully before first use.1. Plug the charger into an appropriate outlet before insertingbattery pack.2. Connect the charger and battery pack, making sure thebattery is fully seated . The (charging) light will blinkcontinuously indicating that the charging process hasstarted.3. The completion of charge will be indicated by the lightremaining ON continuously. The battery pack is fullycharged and may be removed and used at this time or leftin the charger.nOTE: To remove the battery pack, some chargers require thebattery pack release button to be pressed.IndicatorsChargingFully ChargedHot/Cold Pack Delay*The compatible charger(s) will not charge a faulty battery pack. The charger will indicate faulty battery pack by refusing to light.nOTE: This could also mean a problem with a charger. If thecharger indicates a problem, take the charger and battery packto be tested at an authorized service center.hot/Cold Pack DelayWhen the charger detects a battery pack that is too hot or toocold, it automatically starts a Hot/Cold Pack Delay, suspendingcharging until the battery pack has reached an appropriatetemperature. The charger then automatically switches to thepack charging mode. This feature ensures maximum batterypack life.A cold battery pack may charge at a slower rate than a warmbattery pack.INSTRUCTION MANUAL and WARRANTY SUPPLEMENTMANUAL DE INSTRUCCIONES y SUPLEMENTO SOBRE LA GARANTÍAMANUEL D'INSTRUCTION et SUPPLEMENT DE GARANTIE20V Max lithium-ion Battery Charger (CMCB100, CMCB101) - Cargador de batería de ion de litio 20 V Max (CMCB100,CMCB101) - Chargeur de piles au lithium-ion 20 V Max (CMCB100, CMCB101)20V Max lithium-ion 4.0Ah Battery (CMCB204) - Batería de ión de litio de 20 V Máx. 4.0 Ah (CMCB204) -Piles au lithium-ion 20V Max 4.0Ah (CMCB204)IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS ABOUT THIS OR ANY CRAFTSMAN TOOL, CALL US TOLL FREE AT: 888-331-4569.SI TIENE ALGUNA PREGUNTA O ALGÚN COMENTARIO SOBRE ESTO O SOBRE CUALQUIER HERRAMIENTA CRAFTSMAN, LLÁMENOS ANUESTRA LÍNEA GRATUITA: 888-331-4569.SI VOUS AVEZ DES QUESTIONS OU DES COMMENTAIRES À PROPOS DE CET OUTIL OU DE TOUT OUTIL CRAFTSMAN, APPELEZ-NOUS SANSFRAIS AU : 888-331-4569.Maximum initial battery pack voltage (measured without a workload) is 20 volts.
