55MaintenanceTo Add Oil:• Position jack on the level ground and lowerthe saddle.• Remove the oil fill screw.• Fill the oil reservoir until oil level is just overthe top surface of the inner cylinder. Replaceoil plug.• Perform Air Purge Procedure described onpage 2.To Replace Oil:• Fully open release valve by turning handlecounterclockwise as far as it will go.• Remove the oil fill screw. Turn the jack overso that old oil will drain from the oil fill hole.• Turn the jack back over after the oil hasdrained. Refill through oil fill hole. Keep dirtand other material clear when pouring. Fill tojust beneath lower rim of hole. Replace oil fillscrew.• Perform Air Purge Procedure described onpage 2.Lubrication• Add lubricating oil (WD-40) to all moving partswhen needed.• For light duty use, lubricate every six months.• For heavy and constant use, lubrication isrecommended every month.MAINTENANCERust Prevention:• Check ram and pump plunger on the PowerUnit Assembly every two months (or sooner,based on usage) for any signs of rust orcorrosion. Lift the jack as high as it goesand look under and behind the lifting arm. Ifsigns of rust are visible clean as needed andwipe down with with an oily cloth or clothsprayed with WD-40.• When storing the jack, always have thesaddle and pump plunger in the downpostion.ALWAYS USE A GOOD GRADEHYDRAULIC JACK OIL. DO NOT USEHYDRAULIC BRAKE FLUID, ALCOHOL,GLYCERINE, DETERGENT, MOTOROIL OR DIRTY OIL. USE OF AN UN-RECOMMENDED FLUID CAN CAUSEDAMAGE TO YOUR JACK.Air Purge ProcedureDuring shipment, air may get into thehydraulic system causing reduced liftingperformance. Perform Air Purge Proceduredescribed on page 2.• Continue to pump jack handle to lift vehicle todesired height.• After lifting, support the load withappropriately rated vehicle support standsbefore working on vehicle.WARNING: Never work on, under, or around aload supported only by a hydraulic jack.Lowering the Jack• Raise load high enough to clear jack stands;then carefully remove the stands.• Carefully open the release valve by slowlyturning the handle counterclockwise.• After removing jack from under vehicle, ifsaddle has not fully descended, push it all theway down. This will reduce ram exposure torust and contamination. |
