Pressure switch contacts are dirty 6. Clean by sliding piece of plain paper between contactsMotor runs hot and "1. Motor is wired incorrectly 1, Refer to instructions on wiringoverload kicks off 2. Voltage is too low 2. Check with power company. Install heavier wiringif wire size is too small. See wiring instructions3. See section below on too frequent cyclingMotor runs but no 1. In new installation:water is delivered(*Note: Checkprime before look-ing for otherz:auses. Unscrewpriming plug andsee if there is waterin priming hole)Pump does notdeliver water to fullcapacity (also checkpoint 3 immediatelyabove)Pump pumps waterbut does not shut offPump cycles toofrequently3. Pump cycles too frequently"1. Pump in a new installation didnot pick up prime through:a. Improper primingb. Air leaksc. Leaking foot valve*2. Pump has lost its prime through:a. Air leaksb. Water level below suction of pump3. Jet or impeller is plugged4. Check valve or foot valve is stuckin closed position5. Pipes are frozen6. Foot valve and/or strainer areburied in sand or mud1. Water level in well is lower thanestimated2. Steel piping (if used) is corroded orlimed, causing excess friction3, Offset piping is too small in size1. Pressure switch is out of adjustmentor contacts are "frozen"2. Faucets have been left open3. Jet or impeller is clogged4. Motor is wired incorrectly5. Water level in well is lower thanestimated1. Pipes leak2. Faucets or valves are open3. Foot valve leaks4. Pressure switch is out of adjustmenta. Re-prime according to instructionsb. Check all connections on suction line and jetc. Replace foot valve2. In installation already in use:a. Check all connections on suction line, jet and shaft sealb. Lower suction line into water and re-prime. If recedingwater level in a shallow well operation exceedssuction lift, a deep well pump is needed3. Clean jet or impeller according to instructions4. Replace check valve or foot valve5. Thaw pipes. Bury pipes below frost line. Heat pit orpump house6. Raise foot valve and/or strainer above well bottom1. A deep well jet pump may be needed (over 20 ft. to water2. Replace with Plastic Pipe where possible, otherwise withnew steel pipe3. Use larger offset piping1. Adjust or replace pressure switch2. Close faucets3. Clean jet or impeller4. Refer to instructions on wiring5. Check possibility of using a deep well jet pump1. Check connections, replace pipe fittings2. Close faucets or valves3. Replace foot valve4. Adjust or replace pressure switch5. Air charge too low in 5. Disconnect electrical power and open faucets until allCaptive Air_ Tank pressure is relieved. Using automobile tire pressureAir spurts from 1. Pump is picking up prime 1.faucets 2. Leak in suction side of pump 2.3. Well is gaseous 3.4. Intermittent over-pumping of well 4.Leaks at the metal 1. Loose clamps or "O" ring 1.clamp not sealed[J_WARNING]Release all pressurein system beforeworking on clamp!gauge, check air pressure in tank at the valve stemlocated at top of tank. If less than 40 pounds, pump airinto tank from outside source, until 40 pounds pressureis reached. Check air valve for leaks, using soapysolution, and replace core if necessaryAs soon as pump picks up prime, all air will be ejectedCheck suction piping, make sure joints are not sucking airChange installation as described in manualLower foot valve if possible, otherwise res_ct..dischargeside of pumpFirst check the clamp tightening screw to see if it is tight. If it is tight and slight leakage still occurs, place a pieceof wood on the periphery of the clamp and firmly tap thewood with a hammer. Repeat this operation.around theedge of the clamp and retighten the clamp screw. If leakcontinues, disassemble clamp and pump halves andcheck to see that "O" ring is propedy seated and noforeign material is on "O" ring or "O" seat.Reassemble pump.]] |
