Inthe event of malfunction or breakdown, grounding providespath of least resistance for electrical current to reduce riskof electrical shock.• Plug must be plugged into a matching outlet that is proper-ly installed and grounded in accordance with all localcodes and ordinances.• The conductor with insulation having an outer surfacewhich is green is equipment grounding conductor. If repairor replacement is necessary, make sure equipmentgrounding conductor is not connected to line terminal.• If power cord is worn, cut or damaged in any way, have itreplaced immediately.Properly Grounded OutletGrounding Prong3-Prong Plug @I__Figure 9 - 3-Prong ReceptacleCAUTION: improper connection of the equipment-groundingconductor can result in a risk of electrical shock.EXTENSION CORDS• The use of any extension cord will cause some drop in thevoltage and loss of power.• Wires of the extension cord must be sufficient in size tocarry the current and maintain adequate voltage.• Use the table below to determine the minimum wire size(A.W.G.) extension cord.• Use only 3-wire extension cords having 3-prong groundingtype plugs and 3-pole receptacles which accept the toolplug.• If extension cord is worn, cut or damaged in any way, haveit replaced immediately.Extension Cord LengthWire Size A.W.G.Up to 50 ft ....................................... 16Note: Using extension cords over 50 ft. long is notrecommended. |
