DOUBLE mNSULATmONDouble insulation is a concept in safety in electric powertools, which eliminates the need for the usual three-wiregrounded power cord. All exposed metal parts areisolated from the internal metal motor components withprotecting insulation. Double insulated tools do not needto be grounded.WARNING: The double insulated system isintended to protect the user from shock resultingfrom a break in the tool's internal insulation. Observeall normal safety precautions to avoid electricalshock.NOTE: Servicing of a tool with double insulation requiresextreme care and knowledge of the system and shouldbe performed only by a qualified service technician. Forservice, we suggest you return the tool to your nearestauthorized service center for repair. Always use originalfactory replacement parts when servicing.ELECTRmCAL CONNECTmONThis tool has a precision-built electric motor. Htshould beconnected to a power supply that is 120 volts, 60 Hz,AC only (normal household current). Do not operatethis too! on direct current (DC). A substantial voltage dropwill cause a loss of power and the motor will overheat. Ifyour tool does not operate when plugged into an outlet,double-check the power supply.EXTENSmON CORDSWhen using a power tool at a considerable distance froma power source, be sure to use an extension cord that hasthe capacity to handle the current the tool will draw. Anundersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resultingin overheating and loss of power. Use the chart to deter-mine the minimum wire size required in an extension cord.Only round jacketed cords tisted by Underwriter's Labora-tories (UL) should be used. When working outdoors with a tool, use an extensioncord that is designed for outside use. This type of cord isdesignated with "WA" on the cord's jacket. Before using any extension cord, inspect it for loose orexposed wires and cut or worn insulation.**Ampere rating (on tool faceplate)0-2.0 2.1-3.4 3.5-5.0 5.1-7.0 7.1-12.0 12.1-16.0Cord Length Wire Size (AoWoGo}25' 16 16 16 16 14 1450' 16 16 16 14 14 12100' 16 16 14 12 10 --**Used on 12 _e - 20 amp c_uitNOTE: AWG = American W{re GaugeWARNING: Keep the extension cord clear of theworking area.
