Remember that acareless fraction of a second is sufficientto inflictsevere injury.BATTERY PACKThe battery peck for your tool has bean shippedin a lowcharge condition to preventpossibleproblems.Therefore,you shouldcharge it until light on front of charger changesfrom red to green,Note: Batterieswill nut reach fullcharge the firsttime theyare charged, Allow several cycles (cuttingfollowed byrecharging)for them to become fully charged,CHARGING BATTERY PACKSee Figure2.• Charge battery peck onlywith the charger provided.• Make sure power supply is normal householdvoltage, 120 vo#s, 60 Hz, AC only.• Connect chargerto power supply.• Place battery pack in charger aligningraised ribonbattery peck with groove in charger. See Ffgure2.• Press down on battery packto be sure contacts onbattery peck engage probedywith contacts in charger,• Normally, the red LED on charger will come on, Thisindicatescharger is in fast charging mode,• Red LED shouldremainon for approximately1 hourthan the green LED will come on, Green LED onindicates battery peck is fully charged and charger is intdckie charge mode, Note: Green LED will remainonuntil battery peck is removedfrom charger or chargeris disconnectedfrom power supply,• If bothyellow and green LED coma on, this indicatesadeeply dischargedor defective battery pack.Allow battery pack to remain in charger for 15 to 30minutes.When battery pack rsaches normalvoltagerange, red LED shouldcoma on.If red LED does nut come on after 30 minutes,thisindicatesa defective battery peck and shouldbereplaced.• After normal usage, a minimumof 1 hour of chargingtime is requiredto fully recharge battery peck.• The battery peck will become slightlywarm to thetouchwhile charging.This is normal and does notindicate a problem.• Do not place charger and battery pack in an area ofextreme heat or cold, It willwork best at normal roomtemperature,Note: Charger and battery pack shouldbe placed in alocationwhere the temperature is more than 50°F butless than 100=F,When battedes become fully charged, unplugchargerfrom power supplyand remove the battery pack.LED FUNCTIONS OF CHARGERLED WILL BE ON TO INDICATE STATUS OFCHARGER AND BATTERY PACK:• Red LED on = Fast chargingmode.• Green LED on = Fully charged and in tricklechargemode,• Green LED on = When battery pack is insertedintocharger, indicateshut battery pack or that batterypackisout of or below normal temperaturerange.• Yellow and Green LEDs on = Deeply dischargedordefective battery peck.• No LED on = Defective charger or battery peck._, CAUTION: To preventdamage to battery pack,remove battery peck from charger immediatelyif noLED comes on. Ratum battery peck and charger toyour nearest Seers Service Canter for checking orreplacing,Also, ifyou are removingbattery peck fromcharger and no LEDs am on, return both battery packand charger to your nearest Sears Service Center,Do nut Insert another battery peck Into charger.Adamaged charger may damage a better/peck.IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RECHARGINGHOT BATTERY PACKWhen usingyour tdm sew continuously, the batteries inyour battery peck will become hot.You should let • hotbattery pack cool down for approximately30 minutesbefore attemptingto recharge,When the battery peckbecomes discharged and is hot,this will cause the greenLED to coma on insteadof the red LED. After 30 minutes,reinsert battery peck in charger. If green LED continuestoremain on, ratum battery peck to your nearest SearsRepair Center for checking or replacing.Note: This situationonly occurswhen continuous use ofyour saw causes the bettedas to become hot. It does notoccur under normal circumstances.Refer to "CHARGINGBAI'TERY PACK" for normal recharging of bettafias. Ifthe charger does not charge your battery peck undernormal circumstances,return both the battery peck andcharger to your nearest Sears Repair Center for electricalcheck.IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RECHARGINGCOOL BATTERY PACKIf battery pack is below normal temperature range, thegreen LED on charger will come on. Allow battery peck toreach normal temperature, than the red LED will come on,Note: Refer to "CHARGING BATTERY PACK" fornormal rechargingof batteries.
