If operation is dusty, also weara dust mask.GENERAL MAINTENANCEAvoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Mostplastics are susceptible to damage from various types ofcommercial solvents and may be damaged by their use.Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.,d_ WARNING" Do not at any time let brake fluids,gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetratingoils, etc., come in contact with plastic parts. Chemi-cals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic whichmay result in serious personal injury.Electric tools used on fiberglass material, wallboard,spackling compounds, or plaster are subject to acceler-ated wear and possible premature failure because thefiberglass chips and grindings are highly abrasive to bear-ings, brushes, commutators, etc. Consequently, we donot recommend using this product for extended work onthese types of materials. However, if you do work with anyof these materials, it is extremely important to clean theproduct using compressed air.LUBRICATIONAll of the bearings in this product are lubricated with asufficient amount of high grade lubricant for the life ofthe unit under normal operating conditions. Therefore, nofurther lubrication is required.Only the parts shown on the parts list are intended to berepaired or replaced by the customer. All other partsshould be replaced at a Sears Service Center.CLEANING DUST BAG ASSEMBLYSee Figures 9 - 10.A WARNING: Collected sanding dust from sandingsurface coatings such as polyurethanes, linseedoil, etc., can self-ignite in the sander dust bag orelsewhere and cause fire. To reduce the risk of fire,always empty the dust bag frequently while sanding.Never store or leave a sander without totally empty-ing its dust bag. Also follow the recommendations ofthe coatings manufacturers.For more efficient operation, empty dust bag when no morethan half full. This will permit the air to flow through the bagbetter.To empty the dust bag:[] Unplug the sander.[] Remove dust bag from sander.[] Remove dust bag from frame, and shake out dust.[] Replace dust bag over frame then install dust bag onsander.I Fig. 9Fig. 10Look for these accessories at Sears retail:[] Aluminum Oxide Sheets with Paper Backing (1/4 Sheet) .................................................
