Wipethe log splitterwith an oiled rag to preventrust, especiallyon the wedgeand the beam.ENGINENOTE: It is importantto preventgumdepositsfrom formingin theessentialfuel systemparts suchas the carburetor, fuelfilter, fuel hoseor tank during storage. Also, alcoholblendedfuels (calledgasoholorusingethanolor methanol)can attractmoisturewhich leadsto separa-tionand formationof acids during storage.Acidic gascan damagethefuel systemof an enginewhile in storage.1. Drainthe fueltank by runningthe engineuntilthe fuel linesandcarburetorare empty.Alwaysdrain the fuel intoan approvedcontaineroutdoorsawayfromopen flame.Be surethe engine iscool. Do notsmokewhile handlingthe fuel.NOTE: Neveruse engineor carburetorcleanerproductsin the fueltank or permanentdamagemayoccur.Usefresh fuel next season.2. Removethe sparkplug, pour approximately1/2oz. of engineoilintocylinderand crank it slowlyto distributetheoil.3. Replacethe spark plug.FUEL STABILIZERNOTE: Fuelstabilizeris an acceptablealternativein minimizingtheformationof fuel gumdepositsduring storage.Pleasefollowthe instructionsbelowfor storingyourlog splitterwithfuel and stabilizerin the engine:1. Add stabilizerto the gasolinein the fueltank or storagecontainer.Alwaysfollow the mix ratiofoundon the stabilizercontainer.2. Runtheengine at least 10 minutesafteradding stabilizerto allowthe stabilizerto reachthe carburetor.NOTE: Do notdrain the gastank and carburetorif usingfuelstabilizer.Drainall the oil from the crankcase(this shouldbe done aftertheengine hasbeen operatedand is still warm)and refillthecrankcasewith fresh oil.OTHER• Donot storethe gasolinefrom one seasonto another.• Replaceyourgasolinecan if it starts to rust.Storethe log splitterin a clean, dry area.Do not storeit nexttoany corrosivematerials, suchas fertilizer.• Wipethe equipmentwith an oiled ragto preventrust.19
