IA WARNINGIINSTALLING CUTTING BITS - Cont'dRemove the plug from the power source beforeassembly, changing accessories or cutters andmaking adjustments. This safety action will helpprevent accidental starting of the tool which couldresult in serious injury.ON I OFF & SPEED CONTROL SWITCHESThrs cutting tool is equipped w=th a sliding ON / OFFswitch (1) located on the side of the tool and a speedcontrol switch (2) located on top of the tool (see Fig 1)2Fig. 11 To turn the tool ON, slide the switch (1) up2 To turn the tool OFF, slide the swltch down3 To set speed to high speed, slide speed control switch(2) away from the ON / OFF switch4. To set the speed control switch to low speed, slide thespeed control sw_tch (2) toward the ON I OFF switchINSTALLING CUTTING BITSIA WARNINGICutting bit and router bit cutting surfaces areextremely sharp. Handle with caution.To insert a cutting btt, use the collet wrench which IS in thewrench holder attached to the power cordDepress the shaft locking button (1) and rotate thecollet look nut (2) clookwme with the other hand untilthe locking button drops into place, preventing theshaft from turning (see Fig 2)2 Whdecontmuingto hold the shaft lockingbutton IN,use the colletwrench(3) to turn the collet nut counterclockwise Loosen the collet nut two or three turns3 Remove bit if one is already installedin the toolInsert new cutting bit (4) into the colletIA WARNING IInsert the bit all the way into the collet and thenpull it back between 111e"and 1Is". This creates anair space between the motor shaft and the bit tohelp prevent overheating the bit.Before tightening the collet on the bit, make surethe flutes (spiral portion) of the bit are completelyvisible outside the colleL Clamping the collet onthe bit flutes will result In broken bits and possibleinjury.When bit is properly placed in the collet, depress theshaft locking button and turn the collet nut clockwiseby hand as far as possible6 Securely tighten collet nut using the wrench5Fig. 2WORK LIGHTSThe motor umt has two built-in work 1_3hts(5) (see F_g 2)These work hghts automatically hght up when the motorswitch m turned ON.
