To avoid serious injury and damage to the tool, readand follow all of the Safety and Operating Instructionsbefore installing or operating the table saw with thiszero clearance insert.1. READ the entire Instruction Manual. LEARN howto use the tool for its intended applications.2. ALWAYS UNPLUG THE TOOL FROM THE ELEC-TRICAL RECEPTACLE when making adjustments,changing parts, fitting insert or performing anymaintenance.3. ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION. Any powertool can throw debris into the eyes during opera-tions, which could cause severe and permanenteye damage. Everyday eyeglasses are NOT safetyglasses. ALWAYS wear Safety Goggles (thatcomply with ANSI standard Z87.1) when operatingpower tools. Safety Goggles are available at SearsRetail Stores.4. ALWAYS WEAR HEARING PROTECTION. Plaincotton is not an acceptable protective device.Hearing equipment should comply with ANSI $3.19Standards.5. ALWAYS WEAR A DUST MASK TO PREVENTINHALING DANGEROUS DUST OR AIRBORNEPARTICLES, including wood dust, crystalline silicadust and asbestos dust. Direct particles away fromface and body. Always operate tool in well venti-lated area and provide for proper dust removal. Usedust collection system wherever possible. Exposureto the dust may cause serious and permanentrespiratory or other injury, including silicosis (aserious lung disease), cancer, and death. Avoidbreathing the dust, and avoid prolonged contactwith dust. Allowing dust to get into your mouth oreyes, or lay on your skin may promote absorption ofharmful material. Always use properly fitting NIOSH/OSHA approved respiratory protection appropriatefor the dust exposure, and wash exposed areaswith soap and water.6.7.STAY ALERT, watch what you are doing, and usecommon sense when operating a power tool. DONOT use a tool while tired or under the influence ofdrugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inatten-tion while operating power tools may result inserious personal injury.AVOID ACCIDENTAL STARTING. Make sure thatthe power switch is in the "OFF" position beforeplugging in the power cord to the electricalreceptacle.8. KEEP PROTECTIVE GUARDS IN PLACE and inworking order.9. REMOVE ALL MAINTENANCE TOOLS from theimmediate area prior to turning the tool "ON".10.11.12.13.14.15.WEAR PROPER CLOTHING. DO NOT wear looseclothing, gloves, neckties, or jewelry. These itemscan get caught in the machine during operationsand pull the operator into the moving parts. Theuser must wear a protective cover on their hair, ifthe hair is long, to prevent it from contacting anymoving parts.USE ONLY RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES.Use of incorrect or improper accessories couldcause serious injury to the operator and causedamage to the tool. If in doubt, check the instructionmanual that comes with that particular accessory.DO NOT attempt to bevel or tilt the saw blade whilethe blade is in the insert. The blade will bind,causing severe damage and possible injury. Forbevel cuts make a separate insert for that specificpurpose. The bevel angle must be pre-set beforeplunging through the insert.The Insert must be securely clamped down with aboard to the table surface, before plunging theblade through the insert.The zero clearance insert is only recommended foruse with carbide tipped blades and dado sets.A separate zero clearance insert must be used foreach individual blade, dado stack or angle set up.This will reduce the risk of injury and or damage tothe machine.16. MAKE SURE the saw blade is not in contact withthe insert before starting the table saw.17. If using blade stabilizers, CHECK clearances beforeattempting to plunge cut.18.19.When using the zero clearance insert for thru-cutapplications, you must cut out a rear slot in theinsert to allow for the splitter/blade guard assemblyto attach to the table saw. See section OPENINGFOR SPLITTER/BLADE GUARD ASSEMBLY.EACH AND EVERY TIME, CHECK FORDAMAGED parts and PROPER FIT prior to usingthe zero clearance insert. Carefully check all guardsto see that they operate properly, are not damaged,and perform their intended functions. Check foralignment, binding or breaking of all moving parts. Aguard, insert or other part that is damaged shouldbe immediately repaired or replaced. |
