Be sure spark plug wire is attached to spark plug (see Figure1).STARTING,_ NEVER RUN ENGINE INDOORS OR IN ENCLOSED, POORLYVENTILATED AREAS. ENGINE EXHAUST CONTAINSCARBON MONOXIDE, AN ODORLESS AND DEADLY GAS(CARBON MONOXIDE IS ALSO PRESENT IN ENGINEEXHAUST FROM LIQUID PETROLEUM (LPG) AND NATU RALGAS FUEL SYSTEMS).,_ KEEP HANDS, FEET, HAIR AND LOOSE CLOTHING AWAYFROM ANY MOVING PARTS ON ENGINE AND EQUIPMENT.,_i WARNING: TEMPERATURE OF MUFFLER AND NEARBYAREAS MAY EXCEED 150°F (65°C). AVOID THESE AREAS.(_ Move ENGINE CONTROL (see Figure 1) to HI Position._) START ENGINE WITH PRIMER:1. Move equipment control to "FAST" or"START" if so equipped(see equipment manufacturer's instructions).2. The carburetor on your engine has been completely adjustedat the factory. When starting a cold engine, push primer buttonfirmly with your thumb 3 times, allowing primer bulb toreturn completely to original position between pushes (figure1). Below 55°F additional primes may be needed.NOTE: Do not use primer to restart a warm engine after a shortshutdown.3. Operate equipment control to release engine brake if soequipped (see equipment manufacturer's instructions).4. a) RECOIL STARTERS: Grasp starter handle (figure 2) andpull rope out slowly until you feel drag. Let rope rewind slowly.Pull rope with rapid, full arm stroke. Return rope slowly tooriginal position.NOTE: If engine fails to start after three pulls, repeat steps2-3 above.ENGINE SPEED: Engine speed is controlled by the ENGINECONTROL see Figure 1).ENGINE CONTROL should be in HI position for high grass conditionsand for most efficient bagging in heavy grass conditions, and in LOWposition for light grass, trimming and for fuel economy.Page 2STOPPINGO Move ENGINE CONTROL (see Figure 1) to STOP.(_) AFTER ENGINE IS STOPPED:_bA. Change oil while engine is still warm fromrecent running._ILA. DISCONNECT SPARK PLUG WIRE FROM SPARK PLUGAND ATTACH IT TO RETAINING POST (see Figure 3).B. Position equipment so engine oil drain plug is lowest point onengine.C. Remove oil drain plug and oil fill plug to drain oil (see Figure1).D. Replace oil drain plug and tighten securely.E. Fill oil sump with recommended oil. See "OIL & FUELRECOMMI_NDATIONS" and "CHECK OIL LEVEL" on Page1.F. Replace oil fill plug and tighten securely.G. Connect spark plug wire to spark plug.H. Wipe up any spilled oil and/or gasoline.NOTE: If it is difficult to reach the oil drain plug, drain fuel. Removeoil fill plug and tip mower on its side.
