OPERATIONNOTE: Failure to remove all excess cord slackfrom extension cord retainer could result in plugloosening from receptacle.The lock-out button reduces the possibility ofaccidental starting. The lock-out button is locatedon the handle above the switch trigger. The lock-out button must be depressed before you pull theswitch trigger. The lock resets each time the triggeris released.• To start the power head: Depress the lock-outbutton and squeeze the switch trigger.• To stop the power head: Release the switchtrigger.• Avoid hot surfaces by always keeping the toolaway from your body.• Keep the trimmer tilted toward the area being cut;this is the best cutting angle.• The trimmer cuts best when passing the unitfrom right to left. This will avoid throwing debris atthe operator. Avoid cutting in the hazardous areashown. Cutting in the hazardous area can result indebris flying directly at the operator.• Use the tip of string to do the cutting; do not forcestring head into uncut grass.• Wire and picket fences cause extra string wearand breakage. Stone and brick walls, curbs, andwood may wear string rapidly.• Avoid trees and shrubs. Do not rest or place yourarm, hand, or any body part against the motorhousing during operation. Only hold the unitduring trimmer operation with all body parts clearof motor housing (or as shown in the applicableattachment Operator’s Manual). Extendedcontact with the motor housing may result inburns or other injuries.When servicing, use onlyidentical replacement parts. Use of any otherparts may create a hazard or cause productdamage.Always position the unit on theoperator’s right side. The use of the unit on theoperator’s left side will expose the user to hotsurfaces and can result in possible burn injury.To avoid burns from hotsurfaces, never operate unit with the bottom ofthe motor above waist level.Always hold the power headaway from the body keeping clearance betweenthe body and the product. Any contact with theattachment cutting head can result in burns and/or other serious personal injury.Extreme care must be takenwhen using a blade attachment to ensure safeoperation. Read the safety information for safeoperation when using a blade attachment andrefer to the safety rules and instructions inyour attachment manual. Never use a brushcutter attachment with this electric power head.Improper operation of a blade or any attachmentcould result in serious injury.WARNING:WARNING:WARNING:WARNING:WARNING:WARNING:Hold the power head with your right hand on therear handle and your left hand on the front handle.Keep a firm grip with both hands while in operation.Power head should be held at a comfortableposition with the rear handle about hip height.Always operate power head at full throttle. Ifdebris becomes wrapped around the attachment,RELEASE THE SWITCH TRIGGER, unplug theunit, and remove the debris.Always wear safety goggles orsafety glasses with side shields that comply withANSI Z87.1 during power tool operation or whenblowing dust.
