For Lithium-ion batteries:[] Craftsman 40 V lithium-ion batteries are designed withfeatures that protect the lithium-ion cells and maximizebattery life. Under some operating conditions, these built-infeatures may cause the battery and the toot it is poweringto act differently from nickel-cadmium batteries.[] During some applications, the battery electronics maysignal the battery to shut down, and cause the toot to stoprunning. To reset the battery and toot, place the powerswitch in the OFF position; then start the unit and resumenormal operation.[] If placing the power switch in the OFF position does notreset the battery and toot, the battery pack is depleted.Ifdepleted, the battery pack will begin charging when placedon the lithium-ion charger.BATTERY PACK REMOVAL ANDPREPARATION FOR RECYCLINGSee figure 24-28._. WARNING: Upon removal, cover the bat-tery pack's terminals with heavy-duty ad-hesive tape. Do not attempt to destroy ordisassemble battery pack or remove anyof its components. Lithium-ion and nickel-cadmium batteries must be recycled ordisposed of properly. Also, never touch bothterminals with metal objects and/or bodyparts as short circuit may result. Keep awayfrom children. Failure to comply with thesewarnings could result in fire and/or seriousinjuryREPLACING BAR AND CHAINWARNING: Remove the battery pack fromthe chain saw and make sure the chain hasstopped before you do any work or mak-ing any adjustments on the saw. Failure todo so may result in accidental starting andpossible serious injury._IL WARNING: The safety instructions in thissection are to protect the user from seriouspersonal injury._IL WARNING: Always wear gloves when han-dling the bar and chain; these componentsare sharp and may contain burrs.,_ WARNING: Never touch or adjust thechain while the motor is running. The sawchain is very sharp; always wear protectivegloves when performing maintenance to thechain to avoid possible serious lacerations.[] Remove the battery pack before you do anywork on the chain saw.[] Remove the hex key from the storage areaand use it to remove the chain cover screw, washer and chain cover from the chain saw.[] Remove the bar and chain from the mountingsurface.[] Remove the old chain from the bar.[] Lay out the new saw chain in a loop andstraighten any kinks. The cutters should facein the direction of chain rotation. If they facethe opposite direction, turn the loop over.[] Place the chain drive links into the bar groove.Position the chain so there is a loop at theback of the bar. Hold the chain in position onthe bar and place the loop around the sprock-et of the chain saw. Fit the bar flush againstthe mounting surface so that the bar stud is inthe long slot of the bar.20 - English
