63 Connecting the Printer to the ComputerUse a USB cable.Recommended: Canon or other computer manufacturer cable, up to 5 meters in length.• Never attempt to plug the power cord into the power outlet or unplug the power cord when yourhands are wet.• Never damage, modify, stretch, or excessively bend or twist the power cord. Do not place heavyobjects on the power cord.• Never use any power supply other than the standard power supply available in the country ofpurchase. Using the incorrect voltage and frequency could cause a fire or electric shock.• Always push the plug all the way into the power outlet.Follow the steps below to install the printer drivercorrectly.1111 Ensure the printer and the computer areswitched off.2222 Plug the printer in.3333 Connect the USB cable.• If your computer has an earth connection, make sure that this is attached.• If you do not intend to use the printer for a long period of time, unplug the power cord from thepower outlet after turning off the printer.If the Add New Hardware Wizard or Found New HardwareWizard screen appears when carrying out the followingoperations, click Cancel and turn off the computer.
