Canon XA10 Quick GuideUsing the ViewfinderWith the camera on pullout the viewfinder. andadjust the viewfinderusing the dioptricFactory Reset:Remove the battery pack and disconnect allpower sources. Then, press the RESET buttonwith a pointed object to reset all thecamcorder's settings to default values.CondensationMoving the camcorder rapidly between hotand cold temperatures may cause condensa-tion (water dropletts) to form on its internalsurfaces. Stop usng the camcorder if conden-sation is detected. Continued use maydamage the camcorder.Condensation may form:• When the camcorder is moved quickly fromcold to warm places• When the camcorder is left in a humid room• When a cold room is heated rapidlyTo avoid condensation:• Do not expose the camcorder to sudden orextreme changes in temperature.• Remove the SD card(s) and battery pack.Then, place the camcorder in an airtightplastic bag and let it adjust gradually totemperature changes before removing itfrom the bag.When condensation is detected:The camcorder automatically shuts off. Theprecise time required for water droplets toevaporate will vary dependingon the location and weatherconditions. As a general rule,wait 2 hours before resuming.PlaybackPress the button to switch thebetween recording and playback modes.To remove thebattery pack1] Slide BATTERY RELEASE toward the lensand hold down.2] Slide the battery pack over the batteryrelease slider and pull it out.Selecting SD Card for RecordingsSelect to location to record your moviesand photos. The SD card slot [B] is thedefault for Media Pool menu profile.OPEN: [FUNC] > [MENU] > >[Rec Media for ....]Touch the icon for(built-in memory),(slot A) or(slot B)and then touch [X].Slot [A] must be slected before [DoubleSlot Rec] or [Relay Recording] canbe chosen.[Double Slot Rec] records duplicate datato bot card slots - this setting can be setin the profile.[Relay Recording] records on theslot [A] card then the slot [B] card -cannot be saved in the profile.In this menu option you can also check the availablerecording time/number of photos, based oncurrently used settings and memory card capacity.Initializing the MemoryThe camera prefers memory cards to befromated as exFAT. You may need to initializememory cards when you use them with thecamcorder for the first time. Initializingmemory will permanently delete all the filesit contains.Connect the AC Adapter and power thecamcocder. Do not disconnect the powersource until the initialization is completed.Open the initialization screen for the desiredmemory.OPEN: [FUNC.] > [MENU] > >[Initialize ] >(built-in memory),(slot A) or(slot B)and then press [Initialize]In the initialization screen, touch [Completelnitialization] to physically erase all the data.Press [OK] and then touch [X].Saving Menu Settings to slot BSettings already on the card will beoverwritten.With a memory card in slot B.OPEN: [FUNC.] > [MENU] > >(Backup Menu Settings B]1] Select [Save] and then select [Yes] willsave the current setting to the SD cardin slot B.2] Select [OK] and then touch [X].Profile Saving/Loading Notes: (It’s not 100% true.)The manual states that the camcorder can loadsettings from canon XA10 and VIXIA HF G10 that arecommon to both types of camcorders.
