Shooting-Advanced Functions 93Shooting Problem Subjects for the AutofocusThe autofocus may not work well on thefollowing types of subjects.z Subjects with extremely low contrast to thesurroundingsz Subjects mixing close and far objectsz Subjects with extremely bright objects at the centerof the compositionz Subjects that are moving quicklyz Subjects with horizontal stripesTo shoot these subjects, first aim the camera at anobject at a similar distance, lock the focus andrecompose the image with the desired subject, oruse manual focus or AF lock.Shooting with Focus LockMode Dial2, 311 Aim the AF frame at an object at asimilar distance to the subject youwish to shoot.2 Press the shutter button halfway tolock the focus.z The AE setting will also lock when you do this.The exposure may occasionally be incorrect ifthe difference between the two items is toogreat. Use AF lock or AE lock when thishappens.3 Keep it pressed while yourecompose the image and press theshutter button all the way to shootthe image.
