19PreparationsThis chapter describes basic operations, such as navigating themenus, and first time settings to help you learn more about yourcamcorder.Charging the Battery PackThe camcorder can be powered with abattery pack or directly using thecompact power adapter. Charge thebattery pack before use.For approximate charging times andrecording/playback times with a fullbattery pack, refer to the tables onpages 99-100.1 Slide the battery compartmentcover away from the lens andopen it.2 Insert the battery pack all the wayinto the compartment and pressgently until it clicks.3 Close the cover and slide it towardthe lens until you hear a click.4 Plug the power cord into a poweroutlet.5 Connect the compact poweradapter to the camcorder’s DC INterminal.• The CHG (charge) indicator startsflashing.
