1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS1.1 Moving Parts of the Take-up UnitBe careful not to get your hair, clothes, or accessories caught in the moving parts of thetake-up unit. The moving parts include the cardboard tube holder assembly, driven bythe motor for paper winding, and the arm of the paper sensor. The overcurrent protection feature, built into the controller of the motor, willimmediately stop the motor if, for some reason, an electrical overload occurs in themotor. In this case, however, since the power is still being supplied to the motor, it willattempt to rotate after the cause has been solved.1.2 Electrical live part in the Take-up UnitThe winding unit runs on DC 24V/5V power, which is supplied from the printer, ratherthan AC power. No power switch for the take-up unit is provided either on the printeror the unit. To connect the take-up unit to the printer, plug the cable to the 24/5Voutlet on the printer. Be sure to turn off the printer before you plug the cable to theprinter’s outlet. The electrical live part in the take-up unit is the cable units, the PCB, the motor, andthe paper sensor. The DC 24V source powers the rotation of the motor and the DC 5Vsource supplies power to the other components such as the PCB and the paper sensor.1-1TU-01 Part 1: Safety and PrecautionsCardboard tube holder(sliding side)Cardboard tube holder(driving side)Arm of the paper sensorFigure 1-1 Moving parts of the winding unit
