2General SafetyInformationThisproductor its power cord contains lead, achemical known to the State ofCalifornia to cause cancer and birthdefects or other reproductive harm.Wash hands after handling.Since the air compressor and othercomponents (filters, lubricators, hoses, etc.) used, make up a high pressurepumping system, the following safetyprecautions must be observed at alltimes:1. Read all manuals includedwith this product carefully.Be thoroughly familiarwith the controls and theproper use of the equipment.2. Follow all local electrical and safetycodes as well as in the US, NationalElectrical Code (NEC) andOccupational Safety and Health Act(OSHA).3. Only persons well acquainted withthese rules of safe operation shouldbe allowed to use the compressor.4. Keep visitors away and NEVER allowchildren in the work area.5. Wear safety glasses anduse hearing protectionwhen operating thepump or unit.6. Do not stand on or use the pump orunit as a handhold.7. Before each use, inspect compressedair system and electrical componentsfor signs of damage, deterioration, weakness or leakage. Repair orreplace defective items before using.8. Check all fasteners at frequentintervals for proper tightness.Motors, electrical equipmentand controls can causeelectrical arcs that will ignitea flammable gas or vapor. Neveroperate or repair the unit near aflammable gas or vapor. Never storeflammable liquids or gases in thevicinity of the compressor.Compressor parts may be hoteven if the unit is stopped.9. Keep fingers away from a runningcompressor; fast moving and hotparts will cause injury and/or burns.10. If the equipment should start toabnormally vibrate, STOP theengine/motor and checkimmediately for the cause.Vibration is generally a warning oftrouble.11. To reduce fire hazard, keepengine/motor exterior free of oil, solvent, or excessive grease.Never remove or attempt toadjust safety valve. Keepsafety valve free from paintand other accumulations.Never attempt to repair ormodify a tank! Welding, drilling or any othermodification will weaken the tankresulting in damage from rupture orexplosion. Always replace worn ordamaged tanks.Drainliquidfrom tank daily.12. Tanks rust from moisture build-up,which weakens the tank. Make sureto drain tank daily and inspectperiodically for unsafe conditionssuch as rust formation and corrosion.13. Fast moving air will stir up dust anddebris which may be harmful.Release air slowly when drainingmoisture or depressurizing thecompressor system.Thisproduct or its power cord containschemicals known to the State ofCalifornia to cause cancer and birthdefects or other reproductive harm.Wash hands after handling.SPRAYING PRECAUTIONSDo notsprayflammable materials in vicinity of openflame or near ignition sources includingthe compressor unit.14. Do not smoke when spraying paint, insecticides, or other flammablesubstances.15. Use a face mask/respirator when sprayingand spray in a wellventilated area toprevent health and fire hazards.16. Do not direct paint or other sprayedmaterial at the compressor. Locatecompressor as far away from thespraying area as possible tominimize overspray accumulationon the compressor.17. When spraying or cleaning withsolvents or toxic chemicals, followthe instructions provided by thechemical manufacturer.AssemblyLUBRICATIONTHISUNIT ISSHIPPED WITHOUT OIL! Followlubrication instructions beforeoperating compressor.Use oil shipped with the compressor.Do not use regular automotive oilsuch as 10W-30. Additives in regularmotor oil can cause valve deposits andreduce pump life. For maximum pumplife, drain and replace oil after the firstfew hours of run time. The compressor pump takes approxi-mately 380 ml (13 ozs.) of oil. The sightglass, located on the crankcase portionof the pump, is marked with “max”and “min” levels.
