The chemicalreferences are designed for Cal Spas chemicals only.Start UpFollow the Spa Start Up procedures for Chlorine“Clear Water Plan”.Set the spa’s filtration time for “F-4”. This activatesthe ozonator and produces the ozone gas. (Followthe instructions in the owner’s manual)Note: Filtration time may need to be increased withheavy bather load.Day One (Monday)Test spa water using chlorine “Test Strips”. (youwill need to use a small amount of chlorine as asupplemental sanitizer)Based on the Test Strip readings:First adjust total alkalinity (acceptable range of80-120 ppm),Then adjust the pH if needed. (range is between7.2 to 7.8)Add 1 tablespoon of Chlorine Granules.The recommended level of Chlorine is 1-3ppm.Add 2 oz of “Stain and Scale Defense”.Remove dirty filter from the spa and rinse off.Place your extra clean filter cartridge back into thespa.Vacuum debris from the bottom of your spa with thespa vacuum.1.2.1.2.••••3.4.5.6.Day Two (Friday)Test spa water using Chlorine Test Strips.Based on the Test Strip reading:Adjust total alkalinity, then the pH if needed.Add 1 tablespoon of Chlorine Granules. (ifneeded)Add 2 oz of Oxidizer Shock to spa. Run Spa for 15minutes with cover off.Replace cover.MaintenanceRegardless of which “Clear Water Plan” you are using,you should also do the following:Every MonthDeep clean your spa’s filter. (Follow “filter cleaning”instruction at beginning of “Clear Water Plan”)Check inside the equipment area for leaks, rodents,and insects.If a leak is discovered, contact your Cal Spas dealerfor service.If you see evidence of rodents or insects, takenecessary actions to remove them and precautionsto prevent them from returning.Every 3 To 4 MonthsDrain and clean your spa with “Multi-PurposeCleaner”.Polish the acrylic surface with “Fast Sheen”.Clean and treat spa cover, pillows, and Cal Selectcabinet (if equipped) with “Cover Protector”.When re-filling your spa, follow your specific “ClearWater Plan” Start Up procedures.If you use the Cal Inline Sanitation System “ClearWater Plan”, don’t forget to replace the Mineral andBromine Cartridges.Once A YearClean and treat redwood spa cabinets and gazebos with“Nu-Spa Redwood Stain Renew and Brightner”.Check the filter cartridge pleats.
