If there•is excessive abrasion or wear, or if the hose iscut, it must be replaced prior to using the grill. Ifyou need a replacement hose, contact your CalFlame dealer.Ensure the area around the barbecue is clear•of flammable substances such as gasoline, yarddebris, wood, etc.Ensure there is no blockage of the airflow•through the vent space located below the faceof the unit.When using propane gas:•Keep the special ventilation openings in•the enclosure free and clear of debrisIf connected to a propane cylinder,•carefully inspect the rubber hoseattached to the regulator before eachuseEnsure the propane cylinder, regulator,•and rubber hose are installed in alocation not subject to heating above125º F (51º C)Ensure the burner flames burn evenly along both•sides of each burner with a steady flame (mostlyblue with yellow tipping). If burner flames are notnormal, check the orifice and burner for insectsor insect nests.Ensure the in-line gas valve or gas cylinder valve•is always shut OFF when the barbecue is not inuse.Do not operate the side burner with its cover closed•or the back burner with its cover installed.Electronically Lighting the Grill andInfrared BurnersOpen the hood.1.Keep your face as far away from the burners2.as possible.Rapidly rotate the burner knob counter3.clockwise past the light position to HIGH. Youwill hear a loud click as the electronic lighterproduces a spark.Listen for the sound of the gas igniting. If the4.burner does not light on the first try, repeatimmediately.If the burner does not light after three5.attempts, turn the control knobs to the OFFposition. Wait five minutes until the gas clearsbefore attempting to light it again.Repeat the procedure or try the manual lighting6.procedure below.Upon successful lighting, repeat the process on7.the other burners you wish to light.To shut off the burners, rotate the knob and8.turn to OFF. It is normal to hear a poppingsound when the burners are turned off.Lighting the GrillEach time you light the grill, check the following:Manually Lighting the Grill andInfrared BurnersWARNING: Do not use standard matches orcigarette lighters to perform match lightingprocedures. Serious burns can occur and lighterscan explode.Open the hood.1.If you have just attempted to light the burner,2.allow five minutes for any accumulated gas todissipate.Slide out the drip tray from the grill.3.Keep your face as far away from the burners4.as possible.Light and insert a long stem match, holding it5.near the burner ports.Push in and turn the control knob just past the6.LIGHT position to HIGH.Listen for the sound of the gas igniting. If the7.burner does not light after five seconds, turnthe control knobs to the OFF position.
