17AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONTAP SHIFTThe 6-speed automatic transmission has a Tap Shift mode thatallows you to shift gears similar to a manual transmission.USING TAP SHIFT1. Move the shift lever to the M (Manual Mode) position.2. Using the buttons on the back of the steering wheel, tap the left(–) button to downshift and the right (+) button to upshift. Thecurrent gear selection will be shown on the Driver InformationCenter and Head-Up Display♦.If current vehicle speed is too high or too low for the requested gear,the shift will not occur. When coming to a stop, the transmissionwill automatically shift to 1st gear.See Driving and Operating in your Owner's Manual.The traction control system limits wheelspin and the StabiliTrakstability control system assists with directional control of the vehi-cle in difficult driving conditions. Both systems turn on automati-cally every time the vehicle is started.Turn off traction control if the vehicle is stuck and rocking thevehicle is required.Press the Traction Control/StabiliTrak button on the centerof the instrument panel. The Traction Control Off light onthe instrument cluster will illuminate.Press the button again to turn on traction control.See Driving and Operating in your Owner's Manual.STABILITRAK®/TRACTIONCONTROL SYSTEMSAutomatic Parking Assist steers the vehicle to help park in parallelor perpendicular spaces.Press the Automatic Parking Assist button on the center ofthe instrument panel to begin searching for a parking space. Toswitch between parallel and perpendicular parking, press andhold the button. A beep sounds and a symbol displays in theDriver Information Center when a parking space large enoughis found.Shift the vehicle into Reverse or Drive as directed and applythe accelerator or brake as required.
