The tracer lightsalso flash on automatic transmissionvehicles while in the DSC or TapShift modes.Engine Oil PressureGaugeMetricEnglishFor vehicles with an engine oilpressure gauge, it shows the engineoil pressure in kPa (kilopascals)or psi (pounds per square inch)when the engine is running.Oil pressure may vary with enginespeed, outside temperature, and oilviscosity, but if readings are outsidethe normal operating range, the oilpressure light will come on. SeeEngine Oil Pressure Light onpage 5‑25 for more information.A reading outside the normaloperating range may be caused bya dangerously low oil level or someother problem causing low oilpressure. Oil should be checked assoon as possible. See Oil PressureLow Stop Engine under Engine OilMessages on page 5‑35 and EngineOil on page 10‑10.Notice: Lack of proper engine oilmaintenance can damage theengine. Driving with the engineoil low can also damage theengine. The repairs would not becovered by the vehicle warranty.Check the oil level as soon aspossible. Add oil if required, butif the oil level is within theoperating range and the oilpressure is still low, have thevehicle serviced. Always followthe maintenance schedule forchanging engine oil.
