English | 5u Use extreme caution when cutting brush and saplings.The slender material may catch the saw chain and bewhipped toward you or pull you off balance.u Carry the chain saw by the front handle with the chainsaw switched off and away from your body. Whentransporting or storing the chain saw, always fit theguide bar cover. Proper handling of the chain saw will re-duce the likelihood of accidental contact with the movingsaw chain.u Follow instructions for lubricating, chain tensioningand changing the bar and chain. Improperly tensionedor lubricated chain may either break or increase thechance for kickback.u Cut wood only. Do not use chain saw for purposes notintended. For example: do not use chain saw for cut-ting metal, plastic, masonry or non-wood building ma-terials. Use of the chain saw for operations different thanintended could result in a hazardous situation.u This chain saw is not intended for tree felling. Use ofthe chain saw for operations different than intendedcould result in serious injury to the operator or bystand-ers.u Follow all instructions when clearing jammed mater-ial, storing or servicing the chain saw. Make sure theswitch is off and the battery pack is removed. Unex-pected actuation of the chain saw while clearing jammedmaterial or servicing may result in serious personal injury.u Causes and operator prevention of kickback:– Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guidebar touches an object, or when the wood closes in andpinches the saw chain in the cut.– Tip contact in some cases may cause a sudden reversereaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards theoperator.– Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide barmay push the guide bar rapidly back towards the oper-ator.– Either of these reactions may cause you to lose controlof the saw which could result in serious personal injury.Do not rely exclusively upon the safety devices built intoyour saw. As a chain saw user, you should take severalsteps to keep your cutting jobs free from accident or in-jury.Kickback is the result of chain saw misuse and/or incor-rect operating procedures or conditions and can beavoided by taking proper precautions as given below:u Maintain a firm grip, with thumbs and fingers encirc-ling the chain saw handles, with both hands on thesaw and position your body and arm to allow you toresist kickback forces. Kickback forces can be con-trolled by the operator, if proper precautions are taken.Do not let go of the chain saw.u Do not overreach and do not cut above shoulderheight. This helps prevent unintended tip contact and en-ables better control of the chain saw in unexpected situ-ations.u Only use replacement guide bars and saw chains spe-cified by the manufacturer. Incorrect replacementguide bars and saw chains may cause chain breakageand/or kickback.u Follow the manufacturer’s sharpening and mainten-ance instructions for the saw chain. Decreasing thedepth gauge height can lead to increased kickback.Additional safety warningsu This appliance is not intended for use by persons (in-cluding children) with reduced physical, sensory ormental capabilities, or lack of experience and know-ledge, unless they have been given supervision or in-struction concerning use of the appliance by a personresponsible for their safety. Children should be super-vised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.u When working with the tool, always hold it firmly withboth hands and provide for a secure stance. The powertool is guided more secure with both hands.u Always ensure all handles and guards are fitted whenusing the machine. Using the power tool with a mis-aligned or incorrectly tensioned chain can result in chainbreakage, kickback and/or injury.u Always make sure that the chain is in the correct position.An incorrectly positioned chain can result in chain break-age, kickback and/or injury.Safety Instructions and Recommendations forOptimal Handling of the Batteryu Ensure the product is switched off before insertingthe battery. Inserting the battery into a product that hasthe switch on can cause accidents.u Use only Bosch batteries intended specifically for thisproduct. Use of any other batteries may create a risk ofinjury and fire.u Do not open the battery. There is a risk of short-circuit-ing.Protect the battery against heat (e.g.,against continuous intense sunlight), fire,water, and moisture. There is a risk of explo-sion.u When not using the machine, keep the battery not inuse away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws,or other small metal objects that could cause bridgingof the terminals. Shorting the battery terminals togethermay cause burns or a fire.u In case of damage and improper use of the batterypack, vapours may be emitted. Ventilate the area andseek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours canirritate the respiratory system.u Only use the battery with products from the manufac-turer.
