Installation manual 2020-01 | V02 |3 Introduction3.1 DescriptionThe APC-AMC2-4R4CF (also called AMC2-4R4, AMC2, or controller) is equipped with fourindependent interfaces for RS-485 type readers. It is able to control up to four doors with areader in each direction and up to eight doors with a reader in one direction only.The APC-AMC2-4WCF (also called AMC2-4W , AMC2, or controller) is equipped with fourindependent interfaces for Wiegand type readers. It is able to control two doors with a readerin each direction and up to four doors with a reader in one direction only.The extension module AMC2-4WE is equipped with four Wiegand type reader-interfaces pluseight inputs and eight outputs. Hence with the AMC2-4WE it is possible to double the numberof readers on an AMC2-4W from 4 to 8.The AMC2-16ION board provides inputs and outputs to control doors and other componentsindependent of access control system.The extension board AMC2-16IOE can be used with an AMC2 controller. It serves additionalinputs and outputs.The AMC2-4R4 (also called AMC2 or controller) access control unit provides complete accesscontrol for a single entrance. Two card readers (or keyboard card readers) can be connectedand controlled via the two Wiegand interfaces plus up to two readers via the RS-485 interfaceand one via the RS-232 interface.The RS-232 interface here is not used for simple access control readers, but rather forsupplementary identification methods such as biometric (finger print, iris scan) scanners orlong-range readers.Figure 3.1: The Access Modular Controller AMC2-DCUAFigure 3.2: The Access Modular Controller AMC2-2R2
