Also the cord must be: (1) marked with anelectrical rating of 125 V and at least 13 A, 1625 W, and (2) the cord mustbe arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop whereit can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.POLARIZED PLUGThis appliance has a polarized plug, (one blade is wider than the other). Toreduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarizedoutlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse theplug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt tomodify the plug in any way.ELECTRICAL CORDIf the electric circuit is overloaded with other appliances, yourappliance may not operate properly. It should be operated on aseparate electrical circuit from other appliances.Note: If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced byqualified personnel in Latin America by an authorized service center.GETTING STARTED1. Remove all packing material and any stickers.2. Remove and save literature3. Please go to www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty.4. Wipe the base and burners with a damp soft cloth or sponge andwipe dry.5. Select a location on a flat smooth surface where this unit is to beused allowing enough space (we suggest 4 to 6 inches) from theappliance and the wall or any cabinets to allow heat to flow withoutdamage to cabinets and walls.6. Unwind the cord and plug it into a standard electrical outlet.HOW TO USEThis product is for household use only.Caution: Do not use this appliance in a tilted postion.Before first use, turn the temperature control knob(s) on burner(s)to high (6) and allow the burner(s) to run for 5 minutes to burnoff any residue resulting from the manufacturing process1. Plug unit into an electrical outlet. Select the burner you would like to use.2. Turn the temperature control knob beside the heating element to beused to select the desired heat setting. Never leave the appliance on or plugged inwhen not in use.SUGGESTIONS FOR USE• Do not use appliance unattended.• Place the saucepan or skillet in the center of the burner for best heat distribution.• When using both burners, for good heat flow, do not use saucepans orskillets that touch (model DB1002B).• For best heat distribution, use flat bottomed cookware and kettles.•CARE AND CLEANINGThis appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no userserviceable parts. Do not try to repair it yourself. Contact a qualifiedappliance repair technician if the product requires servicing.TO CLEAN1. Unplug the appliance and allow to cool completely before cleaning.Caution: Never immerse this appliance in water or any other liquid.Never use steel wool or abrasive cleaners, as they may scratch thesurfaces or damage the unit.2. The base unit and burner(s) may be wiped with a damp soft cloth or sponge.TO STORE1. Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before storing.2.
