In a double insulated appliance, two systemsof insulation are provided instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided on a double insulatedappliance, nor should a means for grounding be added to the appliance. Servicing a double insulatedappliance requires extreme care and knowledge of the system and should be done only by qualified servicepersonnel. Replacement parts for a double insulated appliance must be identical to the parts they replace. Adouble insulated appliance is marked with the words double insulated or "double insulation". The symbol(square within a square) may also be marked on the appliance.Safety Rules and Instructions: Extension CordsDouble insulated tools have 2-wire cords and can be used with 2-wire or 3-wire extension cords. Only roundjacketed extension cords should be used, and we recommend that they be listed by Underwriters Laboratories(U.L.) (C.S.A. in Canada). If the extension will be used outside, the cord must be suitable for outdoor use. Anycord marked as outdoor can also be used for indoor work.An extension cord must have adequate wire size (AWG or American Wire Gauge) for safety, and to preventloss of power and overheating. The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of thecable, that is 16 gauge has more capacity than 18 gauge. When using more than one extension to make upthe total length, be sure each individual extension contains at least the minimum wire size. Before using anextension cord, inspect it for loose or exposed wires, damaged insulation, and defective fittings. Make anyneeded repairs or replace the cord if necessary. To determine the minimum wire size required, refer to the chart below:Minimum Gage for Cord SetsVolts Total Length of Cord in Feet120V 0-25 26-50 51-100 101-150240V 0-50 51-100 101-200 201-300Ampere RatingMore Not more American Wire GageThan Than0 - 6 18 16 16 146 - 10 18 16 14 1210 - 12 16 16 14 1212 - 16 14 12 Not RecommendedKEY INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW:•Before operating, make sure the interlock is actuated.
