See Storage section in this manualfor proper shutdown and storageproceduresCleaning techniquesWhen cleaning with the pressure washer,some cleaning tasks can be solved withwater alone, but for most tasks it isadvantageous to use a detergent. Adetergent ensures a quick soaking ofthe dirt allowing the high pressure waterto penetrate and remove the dirt moreeffectively.Application of detergentCAUTION: Avoid working on hotsurfaces or in direct sunlight to mini-mize the chance of the soap damagingpainted surfaces.CAUTION: Damage may occur topainted surface if soap is allowed to dryon the surface. Wash and rinse a smallsection at a time.1. Apply the solution to a DRY worksurface.NOTE: WETTING THE SURFACEFIRST IS NOT RECOMMENDED,AS IT DILUTES THE DETERGENTAND REDUCES ITS CLEANINGABILITY.On a vertical surface, apply soaphorizontally from side to sidestarting from the bottom to avoidstreaking.2. Allow detergent to remain on thesurface for a short time beforerinsing.3. Rinse with clean water under highpressure. On a vertical surface,first rinse from the bottom up, thenrinse from the top down. Holdnozzle 6–8 in. (15–20 cm) from thework surface at a 45° angle usingthe flat spray as a peeling toolrather than a scrub brush.NOTE: Ensure that the detergentinjection system is completely cleanprior to switching from one detergentto another.STARTING (FIG. 8–14)DANGER: Risk of injury from spray.Always engage the trigger lock whengun is not in use.
