Typical applications include anyhigh pressure pilot control gas or pneumaticequipment.Figure 1: Y99HY Needle ValveInstallationIMPORTANT: Only qualified personnel shouldinstall or service BASO® Gas Products products.These instructions are a guide for such personnel.Carefully follow all instructions in this document andall instructions for the appliance.IMPORTANT: Make all gas installation inaccordance with applicable local, national, andregional regulations.IMPORTANT: Verify that the valve is installedonly in applications where the specified maximumambient (surface) temperature and maximumoperating pressure does not exceed the limits in theTechnical Specifications sections.To install the Y99HY series valve:1. Shut off power to the appliance (if applicable).2. Shut off the gas at the main manual shutoff valve.3. The gas flow is bi-directional in this valve.4. Installer must be a trained, experienced, flamesafeguard control technician. Threads of the pipeand nipples must be smooth and free of tears andburrs. Steam clean all piping to remove foreignsubstances such as cutting oil or thread chips. Asediment trap should also be installed inaccordance with the National Fuel Gas Code(NFPA 54). Mount the valve to the pipework, usea quality rated pipe tape, UL listed seal materialrated for gasoline, propane, and other gases. Ifnot available, a quality grade pipe dope, a lightamount on the male threads, starting two threadsaway from the first engaging thread. If pipe dopelodges on the valve seat, it will prevent properclosure. Remove excess compound aftermounting the valve to the pipework.5. The Y99HY valve can be mounted on ahorizontal or vertical around any 360 axis.! WARNING: Risk of Explosion or Fire.Verify that there are no gas leaks by testing withappropriate equipment. Never use a match or lighterto test for the presence of gas. Failure to testproperly can lead to an explosion or fire and mayresult in severe personal injury or death.6. Check for leakage.
