464. In the Hide SSID field, select Yes to prevent wireless devicesfrom detecting your SSID. When this function is enabled, youwould need to enter the SSID manually on the wireless deviceto access the wireless network.5. Select any of these wireless mode options to determinethe types of wireless devices that can connect to your xDSLmodem router:• Auto: Select Auto to allow 802.11ac, 802.11n, 802.11g, and802.11b devices to connect to the xDSL modem router.• Legacy: Select Legacy to allow 802.11b/g/n devices toconnect to the xDSL modem router. Hardware that supports802.11n natively, however, will only run at a maximum speedof 54Mbps.• N only: Select N only to maximize wireless N performance.This setting prevents 802.11g and 802.11b devices fromconnecting to the xDSL modem router.6. Select the operating channel for your xDSL modem router.Select Auto to allow the xDSL modem router to automaticallyselect the channel that has the least amount of interference.7. Select any of these channel bandwidth to accommodatehigher transmission speeds:40MHz: Select this bandwidth to maximize the wirelessthroughput.20/40MHz: This is the default bandwidth.20MHz: Select this bandwidth if you encounter some issueswith your wireless connection.8. Select any of these authentication methods:• Open System: This option provides no security.• WPA/WPA2 Personal/WPA Auto-Personal: This optionprovides strong security. You can use either WPA (withTKIP) or WPA2 (with AES). If you select this option, you mustuse TKIP + AES encryption and enter the WPA passphrase(network key). |
