MAJOR SUBSYSTEMS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS4.1 INTRODUCTIONThis manual contains information required to install and operate the 60W CI-Band Hub-mount(Outdoor) Solid State Block Up-Converter model SSPB-Ci60.4.2 DESCRIPTIONThe Solid State Power Block Up-Converter (SSPB) unit is self-contained and is intended formounting near the hub of the antenna. Each Up-Converter unit incorporates a DC main powersupply and forced air cooling system, see Figure 1: Product Outline at page 15. Each unit featuresa serial RS-485 interface that provides full remote monitor and control capabilities via a computerinterface as well as serial RS-232 interface (that may be used in Terminal mode) and a discreteinterface (Relay) for local or remote monitoring and control of selected functions. A functionalblock diagram of the unit is shown in Figure 2 at page 16.4.3 SINGLE UNIT MAJOR COMPONENTSThe SSPB Up-Converter consists of the following major components:• L-Band to CI-Band Up-Converter Module,• Power Amplifier Module,• Waveguide Assembly,• 10 MHz Reference Oscillator,• Main Controller Board,• Power Supply,• Current Sensor, and• Power Monitor Board.These components are interconnected using dedicated wiring harnesses and coaxial cables.To clarify the explanation of the components in the following paragraphs, refer to the blockdiagram in Figure 2 at page 16.11
