A-9SNMPAdaptec SNMP SubagentThe Adaptec SNMP subagent attaches to the operating system-specific master agent to handle SNMP requests for objects definedthat are defined in the Adaptec MIB. It also broadcasts the AdaptecSNMP traps to the designated management consoles.The design and implementation of the Adaptec SNMP subagentcomplies with the operating system-specific implementations ofthe SNMP specification. This assures compatibility andfunctionality within each operating system environment. On theclient side, all SNMP management consoles are supported.Adaptec SNMP Trap Broadcaster ModuleAn SNMP trap broadcast module controls all Adaptec SNMP traps.The SNMP trap broadcast module registers with the Adaptec eventlogger to receive all events generated for the Adaptec subsystem.This module then forwards all events to the Adaptec SNMPsubagent for processing and delivery to the SNMP master agent.The broadcast modules have complete control over how events arereceived from the event logger. The modules define what eventsare to be sent and how they want to receive the event information.Each broadcast module has control over which events are to bebroadcast, how they are broadcast, and where they are sent.
