4-2Environmental MonitoringVersatile Environmental Monitor (VEM)The VEM plugs into the backplane of the RAIDstation7 Fibre Channel StorageArray, and is accessible from the rear of the shelf (see Figure 4-1).Figure 4-1. VEM LocationThe VEM communicates with the host system using the SES ports on disk drives4 and 5 of the Storage Array shelf. This section will describe the function of theVEM and how to interpret the LEDs and audible alarm fault indicators.
