Affix a hex nut to the end of each of the screws, as shown in Figure 2.Caution: The torque should be less than 0.06Nm to avoid deformation. Do not use atool to hold the nut in place to avoid damaging the semi-conductor components on thedaughterboard near the screw holes. Be sure that the controller is not bent afterattaching the daughterboard to the controller card.3 Attach the AFM-600CC supercapacitor module to the controller by inserting theconnector into the socket on the AFM-600DB, as shown in Figure 3. The connectorattaches to the socket in only one direction.4 Choose a location on the chassis or in the system to fix the tethered supercapacitormodule using the included cable-ties such that (i) the cable (18.5") reaches themating location on the controller when it is installed in the expansion slot;(ii) wiring is routed and secured so that it does not contact any moving parts (fans, for instance); and (iii) the supercapacitor module is protected from heat.5 Thread the cable-ties through the slots on the supercapacitor module and fix to theselected location on the computer chassis. The cable-ties should completely encircle the supercapacitor module to ensure that it is heldin place securely, as shown in Figure 4. Be careful not to restrict air-flow in your system.6 Reinstall the controller, and restart your computer.7 The supercapacitor starts charging automatically. It should reach full charge in 3-4 minutes.Warning: (i) Do NOT remove or insert a fully charged supercapacitor module. Always discharge the unit first to avoid damage to the controller orflash backup module. The factory ships with discharged units, so they are safe to install when you receive them. To ensure that an installed unitis discharged, switch the system OFF, then wait 5 minutes. After a dirty shutdown, wait 3 minutes after backup is complete, then remove theunit. (ii) There is a risk of explosion if the supercapacitor module is replaced by an incorrect type.Figure 1 Figure 2Spacers!Figure 3 Figure 4Supercapacitor module
