9 Monitoring and routine maintenanceThe only preventive maintenance the medical device requires is:l Monitoring of accessoriesl Routine cleaning, disinfection and sterilisationl CleaningCheck the cleanliness of the handpiece nosepiece. It must be clean, smooth and corrosion-free. The optical guide mustfit easily and firmly inside it.Check the handpiece electrical connectors. These must be clean, smooth and corrosion-free. The battery must be ableto be screwed in easily.Before and after use, check the medical device and its accessories entirely for any problems. This is necessary todetect any electrical isolation fault or damage. If necessary, replace damaged parts.9.1 Check the powerIt is important to regularly check that the lamp is working correctly.This can be done using a purpose-designed tester.To do this, proceed as follows:l Check that the optical guide is intact and has no curing composite residues.l Set the lamp to Rapid mode.l Insert the optical guide into the power tester.l Switch on the Mini LED.The power tester may yield the following results:Colour ResultGreen The lamp is working correctly and has a power output equal to or more than 785 mW/cm2Red The lamp is not working correctly.
