Connecting to the Internet - 33Connecting to a wireless LANA wireless LAN (or WLAN) is a wireless local area network, which canlink two or more computers without using wires. Once connected toWLAN, you can access the Internet. You can also share files, otherdevices, and even your Internet connection itself.Your computer's wireless connection is turned on by default andWindows will detect and display a list of available networks duringsetup. Select your network and enter the password if required.Acer notebook computers feature an Airplane mode hotkey that turnsthe network connection on or off. You can use the networkmanagement options to turn your wireless network on/off or controlwhat is shared over the network. From the Start screen, start typing’wireless’ then select Connect to a network or Change Wi-Fisettings. Otherwise, open Internet Explorer and follow theinstructions.Connecting to a 3G networkIf your computer has a SIM slot, you can connect to the Internet usinga 3G (cellular phone) network. To do this, you must have a compatibleSIM card and a data contract with your cellular provider.WarningUsing wireless devices while flying in aircraft may be prohibited. Allwireless devices must be switched off before boarding an aircraft andduring take-off, as they may be dangerous to the operation of theaircraft, disrupt communications, and even be illegal.
