Chapter 2 38Power Management SetupThe Power Management menu lets you configure your system to most effectively save energy while operatingin a manner consistent with your own style of computer use.The following screen shows the Power Management parameters and their default settings:The following table describes the parameters found in this menu. Settings in boldface are the default andsuggested settings.Parameter Description OptionsACPI Function This item is to activate the ACPI (AdvancedConfiguration and Power Management Interface)Function. If your operating system is ACPI-aware, such as Windows 98SE/2000/Me, selectEnabled.EnabledDisabledACPI Suspend Type This item specifies the power saving modes forACPI function. S1(POS): The S1 sleep mode isa low power state. In this state, no systemcontext (CPU or chipset) is lost and hardwaremaintains all system context. S3 (STR): The S3sleep mode is s power-down state in whichpower is supplied only to essential componentssuch as main memory and wake-capabledevices and all system context is saved to mainmemory. The information stored in memory willbe used to restore the PC to the previous statewhen an wake-up event occurs. S1&S3: Both S1and S3 will be adopted.S3S1S1&S3
