Wrapping the bed and accessories or coveringthem so that the coating and plastic parts are notdamaged4. Bed should be stored in a temperature between+10°C and +40°C5. Bed should be stored somewhere where therelative humidity is between 30% and 75%18. Daily InspectionDaily visual inspection is strongly recommended andmay be carried out by Carer, user or other (notnecessarily a competent) person.The following checks must be carried out:1. Does the bed operate as per its intended purposewithout unexpected noise or motion?2. Are there any signs of abuse or excessive wear?3. Are all fixtures and fittings tight and secure?4. Does the bed frame appear stable and secure?5. Are all accessories fitted in line with the accessorymanufacturer or accessory supplier’s instructions?6. Are all the castors brakes in the locked position?7. Are all electrical cables (including accessories, e.g.mattress air pump) secured and routed to preventdamage?8. Does the handset locking function work correctly?(See Section 8)9. Does the bed stop at the Safety Stop position? (SeeSection 9)10. Is the area around, above and below bed clear ofpossible obstruction?11. Is there any risk of entrapment or patient injury?If any damage, performance issue or cause forconcern is noted during this inspection the bed shouldbe withdrawn from service and appropriate stepsshould be taken.19. General maintenanceGeneral maintenance must be carried out once yearlyas a minimum and by a competent person or persontrained to do so. The following checks must be carriedout in addition to the checks listed in Section 20 – DailyInspection.Note: It is not current practice for lifting beds to beconsidered to be lifting equipment within the scope ofthe Lifting Equipment Operations Regulations (LOLER),and so there is no formal legal requirement for regularinspection by a (LOLER) competent person.The following checks must be carried out:1. Do the castors operate correctly, including thebrakes?2. Do all electrical bed positioning functions workcorrectly? (Backrest motion etc.).3. Does the power supply, or handset, show any signof damage or abuse?4. Are any electrical cables pinched, crushed ordamaged in any other way?5. Does the bed frame show any signs of abuse,damage or breakage?6. Is the bed frame mechanically sound without anycracking at welds etc?7. Is the control box plastic clip on cover holding theactuator plugs in place fitted?8. Are the plastic retaining covers fitted to the headand footboard actuators securing the wires inplace?9. Is the control box metal cover fitted correctly?10. Are all fixtures, fittings, nuts, bolts etc. tight andsecure as appropriate?11. Are all actuators secured using a 10mm clevis pinand R-clip?12. Is the mattress platform secured to the head andfootboards using 4 x 10mm clevis pin and R-clips?13. Are the mattress platform joining bars clamped inplace (with M8 bolts from below) and securedwith 4 x 10mm clevis pin and R-clips?If any damage, performance issue or cause forconcern is noted during this inspection the bed shouldbe withdrawn from service and appropriate stepsshould be taken.20. GuaranteeThe warranty period for the FloorBed is 24 months,covering parts only.If the bed was acquired for a care home, the carehome maintenance department should contactAccora to obtain the necessary parts.21. Disposal of the FloorBedIn the event of the disposal of materials from the bed,end-of-life parts must be disposed of in accordancewith current environmental regulations.WARNINGMaintenance MUST be carried out by acompetent person.All functions MUST be tested and approved bya competent person after maintenance.Refer to Sections 8 and 9.Only power supply supplied with bed shouldbe used.Do not carry out maintenance with serviceuser or patient on the bed. |
