3PansIt is important to use pans that are specificallyrecommended for induction cooking. Generally stainlesssteel, special pans with stainless steel bases, enamelledsteel, or cast iron pans with flat enamelled bases aresuitable. It should be noted that some grades of stainlesssteel pans may not function or may be slow to heat. All copper and all aluminium constructed pans or ceramicpans, will not work on an induction hob. If you are unsureof a pan, try a quick test using a magnet on the pan base(See Fig. 2). A strong attraction between magnet andpan, will normally indicate a suitable pan. Weak or noattraction usually indicates a pan that is not suitable. Donot forget to remove the magnet before using the pan onthe hob.Induction HobThe induction hob works independent of the AGAhotcupboard. It is not necessary for the hotcupboardcontrol switch to be on when the induction hob is in use.All of the induction hob functions are accessed via thetouch pads located on the ceramic surface.Display IndicatorsAuto Cook WarmingsettingsPan detection Timer setResidual heat Pause setLock set Power levelsBoost Prolonged padcontactControl Panel Fig. 4Always use positive finger contact on the touch pads toensure a good control response.Touch pads may not respond if the hob control area iswet. Touch pad area should be dried using paper towel.Switching the Induction Hob ONUsing the induction hob requires three steps.1. Touch the power on - off pad2. Touch the induction on - off pad and3. Set the required power levelIf power level is not set within 20 seconds the unit willautomatically switch off.Setting the Power LevelTen power levels can be selected by touching anindividual power level pad or by sliding your fingeralong the pads. A visual indicator will illuminate as botha numerical and as a level display ,being high.To set the boost function, touch boost pad the displaywill indicate . The boost function will run for 10 minutesmaximum before reverting back to setting .Switching the Induction Hob OFFAfter use the hob should be turned off by touching thepower touch pad .Ideally pans should have near flat bottoms to maximiseinduction efficiency. Most types of pans will generate a faint audible soundduring the cooking process and this is perfectly normal. The level of sound will vary depending on the type andstyle of pan used.AGA accessories can be viewed at your local AGAspecialist or online at agacookshop.co.uk.Use pans that are the same size or slightly larger thanthe marked area. Smaller pans will take longer to heat.Using a pan with a lid will help pan contents boil morequickly.230mmDEFINEDPAN AREAFig. 2Fig. 3
