CARE AND CLEANINGCAUTION!Unplug the appliance before car-rying out any maintenance oper-ation.This appliance contains hydrocar-bons in its cooling unit; mainte-nance and recharging musttherefore only be carried out byauthorized technicians.5.1 Periodic cleaningThe equipment has to be cleaned regu-larly:• clean the inside and accessories withlukewarm water and some neutralsoap.• regularly check the door seals andwipe clean to ensure they are cleanand free from debris.• rinse and dry thoroughly.Do not pull, move or damageany pipes and/or cables insidethe cabinet.Never use detergents, abrasivepowders, highly perfumed clean-ing products or wax polishes toclean the interior as this will dam-age the surface and leave astrong odour.Clean the condenser (black grill) and thecompressor at the back of the appliancewith a brush. This operation will improvethe performance of the appliance andsave electricity consumption.Take care of not to damage thecooling system.Many proprietary kitchen surface clean-ers contain chemicals that can attack/damage the plastics used in this appli-ance. For this reason it is recommendedthat the outer casing of this appliance isonly cleaned with warm water with a littlewashing-up liquid added.After cleaning, reconnect the equipmentto the mains supply.5.2 Periods of non-operationWhen the appliance is not in use forlong periods, take the following precau-tions:• disconnect the appliance from elec-tricity supply• remove all food• defrost (if foreseen) and clean the ap-pliance and all accessories• leave the door/doors ajar to preventunpleasant smells.If the cabinet will be kept on, ask some-body to check it once in a while to pre-vent the food inside from spoiling incase of a power failure.5.3 Defrosting of the refrigeratorFrost is automatically eliminated fromthe evaporator of the refrigerator com-partment every time the motor compres-sor stops, during normal use. The de-frost water drains out through a troughinto a special container at the back ofthe appliance, over the motor compres-sor, where it evaporates.Periodically clean the defrost water drainhole in the middle of the refrigeratorcompartment channel to prevent the wa-ter overflowing and dripping onto thefood inside.
